On July 15, EFCC questioned Shalewa Obanikoro, the daughter of a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, over a transaction of N800m she allegedly made. She was held alongside her mother, Moroophat Obanikoro.

It was reported that Obanikoro’s wife came to their office on Friday concerning the ongoing investigations into the N4.7bn paid into her sons company account. It was during the investigation they stumbled on an oil company account which has Obanikoro’s daughter as a signatory to the account and several millions of naira being paid into it at different intervals.

Report said, the daughter was invited to their office after she gave an order to the bank to wire N800m from the account to another. EFCC wondered why someone so young like her will have access to such money.

Investigation revealed she plans to travel to United States soon. Shalewa’s passport was seized along the way, because Obanikoro and her sons who owns United States citizenship passport have remained in the US for over a year now. And in order to prevent her from doing that too, her passport was quickly seized.

Obanikoro has however request his wife be left out of the investigation as she knows nothing about all this and she has a record of high blood pressure and other heart-related ailments.
